Beetlejuice gay

This feeling was communicated to me so beautifully, even through the limitations of white, cisnormative, heterosexual stories that Burton sticks to. It was with this love and preparation in my heart that I saw Beetlejuice the Musical, and was completely delighted. I grew up with the Beetlejuice cartoon series, which I would run home after school to catch the last 15 minutes of. I hardly remember the referential, pun-laden humor or rushed animation — the important thing about it was the friendship between Lydia and BJ.

Countless merch options, throwbacks, a Broadway musical, and a cartoon series which is top-notch have occurred due to those thrice repetitions. Throughout these past 36 years, there has always been a queer correlation to Beetlejuice. Search it out on the internet. But how about the one queer character in the film?

I say surprisingly because unlike the film where Beetlejuice is really a secondary character and the emphasis is on the married and soon-to-be deceased couple, Barbara Britney Coleman and Adam Will Burton , the reverse is true for the musical. It reduces these roles to the point where they feel underdeveloped and worse, bland. The focus now is on the relationship between Lydia and Beetlejuice. The score by Eddie Perfect is also too non-descript to ratchet up the show.

Charactor actor Glenn Shadix has died. His best known roles were in Tim Burton movies: Beetlejuice the fat gay interior decorator onscreen and as a voice in Nightmare Before Christmas and an orangutan senator in Planet of the Apes but he did a zillion TV and movie and stage appearances including Carnivale in recent thin years. He was semi-retired for the past few years and living in his native Birmingham, AL where his parents sent him for electroshock treatment when he was a college student to cure teh gay. He owned a beautiful Queen Anne home there for a while but it burned to the ground at Christmas a few years back.
