A group of Pueblo LGBTQ citizens realized that the passage of Amendment 2 meant that many people might have felt invisible and rejected.
Visitors come to hike, sled and even ski the dunes, and also to camp, picnic and explore the trails and wildlife preserve that are part of this national park. Deer, bears, mountain lions, foxes and coyotes make their homes here, along with some rare species of insects. Visitors should also check out the hole Cattails Golf Course and other nearby attractions, such as the Colorado Gator Farm in Mosca or the Zapata Falls waterfall. You also can ride the revived Royal Gorge Route Railroad passenger train through the gorge, seeing it from the bottom up instead of the top down.
The Friendly Harbor Community Center actively works to counter the effects of stigma by supporting recovery of its members, and speaking to and collaborating with family members and supporters of those with a mental condition, organizations such as Pueblo County Department of Social Services, Probation Department, Colorado Mental Health Institute at Pueblo, Health Solutions mental health center, involved parties such as Pueblo County District Court judges and Pueblo County citizens at large, and others. The following activities are designed to promote mental wellness as well as provide a means of stepping out of your comfort zone and enjoying yourself with those of like minds. We currently offer many different weekly support groups led by our Peer Support Specialists.
