From that first experience, Gay learned he had to have a rotation of trees growing in order to consecutively sell trees. With different plots of trees growing about a year apart from each other, his rotation works on a five year calendar.

Matt Gay's entire year leads up to this month, when families flock to his place and take a little bit of holiday home with them. Tuesday morning, like many days during December, started with a group of pre-K children touring the grounds. In the afternoon the property would officially open for families seeking trees. Each child had a favorite part of the day, but for Jocelyn May it was seeing the "little trees" just recently planted.
